I can't even believe the makers of Tango would want to stop doing what they do best o_O. It's a bit odd really...the meeting must have gone something like this: "Well, we're not doing so well this year - sales are down and public opinion? Yeah, that's gone out the window. So, we're going to stop making Tango."

Is this due to the credit crunch? Perhaps. But apart from the money side of things, why would they want to close? I mean, it sounds absolutely ridiculous! Tango is one of our (I mean people in the UK) main soft drinks, particularly because it's made here. We already lost Citric Spring - absolutely amazing stuff! - and Mountain Dew, although we just kinda stole that one for a little while.

So what's happening to our soda pop :(? I have no idea if I'm absolutely honest. I mentioned the whole Tango potentially going under thing to my friends, and we decided to have a little experiment: we got some Tango and compared it to Fanta, it's biggest rival. Sadly, Tango did come out at the bottom of the test, although with only a one out of two chance, and the fact that it came from a fast food place machine, rather than a can or bottle, I'm not surprised. Those things never mix properly anyway.

Well, I still love Tango and I hope you guys may join me in making the "can fist" and going out and buying more Tango to keep it from going under - we already lost Wispa and brought it back, let's try and stop this from dissapearing off our shelves under our own noses without us noticing!

Who loves orange soda? JAYE LOVES ORANGE SODA!

Tweet no.1

Rubix Cube Retroness

Thought I might post this little visual delight up. Nothing unusual there - maybe I should blog more often, then I could give each post a separate theme. Wish I had more time to do that. Anyway, I want to talk a bit about what got me interested in music and street art, if that's okay with you. And that all comes down to one thing: Linkin Park.

Hahaha, you probably think I've gone crazy. "How could you like Linkin Park?" I hear some of you asking. Well, to you lot, I shall say this: I was young...that, and what's wrong with LP? Their music is amazing! Okay, so they may not have been the ones to start the whole Nu-Metal phenomena, but when it was in its' prime, the term "Nu-Wave" was pretty much synominous with Linkin Park. Okay? Okay.

Linkin Park was probably my favourite band from the ages of 11-18. I loved pretty much every song they put out ("Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora" are still tied for my favourite LP albums)- from "Papercut", the first LP song I ever heard, to "Breaking the Habit", the one before I started to go off and redefine my musical tastes. I owe my love of rock/nu-metal/hardcore music to them and for that I am very grateful. I know there's something to growing up and changing your tastes etc, but I have to admit, I went back and visited their site lately after about a year's hiatus and found that I still liked them, even after the gap. One of their latest videos, "Leave Out All The Rest" is nicely done - good lyrics, an interesting and well executed video.

Couple that with some very neat artwork, and you're flyin'. Mike Shinoda, the band's main MC (and assistant sample-guy/guitarist, whatever), is actually an accomplished artist, having his own shows put on in big galleries all over LA - he even runs a sponsorship course at (I think, but I forget the proper name) Art College, CA. And he designs shoes for DC. How much kooler can you get? Lol :P jk.

Here's one of his pieces that I really like:

I used to try to emulate this and a lot of other Linkin Park stuff when I was doing my GCSE's, trying to create my own style out of it. I've since learned you can't copy someone else's style to find your own, but it does help to give you a formative background and somewhere to start. Mike's an amazing artist (as are a lot of the Linkin Park guys - you can see it in the insert for "Meteora", all the guys collaborated on this huge group of boards, using stencils, spray cans, paint, stickers - you name it - and it turned out really, really well; Joe Hahn is also a director and used to be a digital special effects supervisor).

So yeah, I guess I can put down two of the most important creative outlets in my life to Linkin Park...I know, it sounds sad, but without their music and their artwork, I probably wouldn't have liked what I was into as a teenager, and therefore what I love now.

Let me leave you with a little video I found on my viral travels this week. It's made by/for Adobe (y'know, those software guys? They created a bunch of arty programmes?...:P) and the theme is something I've been doing a lot lately (okay, well not so much as usual, which I guess is good as I need to get a good grade on this); we all do it. The execution of the video is very clean and creative too:

Hi and Bye

Just a little post to say I'm still alive - I will be doing a post in the next few days, because it's been a while and I want to blog! But right now I have to get on with my module assignments. So I expect to post tomorrow, but I won't set that in stone, just in case.

Anyway, look forward to a couple of videos, links, pics and mentions etc - I'm going to be taking a peek at some Mr Jago and Richt activity as well as doing a profile on the Mike Shinoda :D (of Linkin Park fame - his artwork is what got me into street art, so that'll be pretty neat). Think I'm talking crazy talk? Well, you'd be surprised! Oregon Scientific got together with the lovely peeps at Team Rubber and created this little number:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 247px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7UQXV2aVmbc/SSauitGGMQI/AAAAAAAAAAk/THkiotHCyLY/s320/Picture+40.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5271092325127696642" />

Go play the game and you'd be in with a chance to win one of Oregon Scientific's ATC 3K action sport cameras, which is pretty neat if you ask me.

The style of film-making you could do with that baby kinda reminds me of a screening I went to at the Watershed earlier in the year. It was for "Paranoid Park", a feature length film shot in Super8. Was nicely done, but the story wasn't exactly down my alley (I'm all for skateboarding, but the rest of it, well...didn't float my boat anyway). And besides, doesn't skateboarding go with the whole culture of graffiti? Eh?

Too much of a stretch maybe? Well it's fun all the same. Check it!

Oh yeah - the other reason for my post. I've been listening to Bonobo a bit today on the company choons. These guys are amazing :D you may have heard "Ketto" before on TV (well, if you're in the UK and not living under a rock, maybe) but their other stuff is pretty decent too. I first heard "Ketto" in Gav Strange's Droplet launch video (which I am actually in, for all of 2 seconds :P):

Jam & Custard - The launch of the Vinyl Toy 'Droplet' from JamFactory on Vimeo.

Gotta love those little guys ^_^ check out my drops' ("Campino") getting his chef on ;)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 291px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7UQXV2aVmbc/SSaxDSYVHMI/AAAAAAAAAAs/Z9BWnCg09NY/s320/Dropsinthesilver.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5271095083915353282" />

Ciao for now!

Just a quickie: Booty Juggler AND! Basically, graff artists from all over the world (or may have just been Europe, I can't rightly remember) go head to head with a white board - or equivalent drawing surface - and a big marker, and draw their little hearts out. There was some amazing stuff produced, so watch the vid and take a look.

Another little thing I've got to put up here today is a very neat 2D game called "Booty Juggler" - it's being seeded by Rubber Republic (great people, ne?) and it's part of the 4Mations campaign, which I'll put up a bit more about later. Designed by illustrator Robin Davey , it's about Patch the Pirate Octopus, and you have to help him protect his pirates booty:<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 260px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7UQXV2aVmbc/SQGzh20P-pI/AAAAAAAAAAc/-ZaYk_3dQ6E/s320/BootyJuggler+Screen.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5260683233977170578" />

Ttfn,

Jaye ;p

EDIT: Here's the embedded code for the game -

Free Online Games

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://spreadlikewildfire.blogspot.com/2008/10/just-quickie-booty-juggler-and-secret.html' title='Just a quickie: Booty Juggler AND! And it's all for a good cause, so go have a play around and send it to your mates.

I have another gamey game that I may post about later, so watch out for that one too.

Bobsmade

Hey there peeps.

Thought I'd just big-up another favourite artist of mine - her name is Bobsmade and she rocks. Here's a link to her deviantArt page: http://bobsmade.deviantart.com/
Bobsmade does these amazing doodle-like sketches and pieces; they look like they take forever. Wish I could have the patience to do stuff that detailed :). I have had a go - check it out:

She also customises shoes (ballerinas, Chucks, old 80's style sneakers) and bags, designs t-shirts, and does these really neat pieces using coffee as a stain/watercolour-like paint.

Take a look at this:

Anyways, that's all for today. I've been kind of busy with work and stuff lately, getting ready to start back at uni etc, so things have been pretty crazy around here.

No new graff vids or shots I'm afraid (I'm going to have to go on a photohunt pretty soon to get some more pics up), but I have updated my previous posts from having just links to actual embeded videos! I only recently remembered that you could do that...yeah, yeah, I know. You guys are probably all saying: "Yes, duncehead. Of course you can do that" o_O. But I'm a blogging n00b, so forgive me.

The reason for the name of this post is twofold: one is for a trip I took to the E.R./Casualty/whatever you want to call it today. I had a bit of an accident on Friday evening; I was walking down the stairs (reading at the same time - which although it's pretty kool to be able to multi-task, is not a good idea whilst descending from...well, anywhere) and hadn't seen a bag that had been left on one of the bottom steps, and when I put my arm out to stop myself from falling, I hit my arm really hard on the bannister. Couple that with a fall UP the stairs at work on Thursday, and my arm was smarting a bit. I can be a bit of a hypercondriac (sp?) sometimes, so I decided not to head on down to casualty right away to get it checked out or anything; gradually over the weekend it started to hurt more and more to the point of it throbbing even when I wasn't doing anything. I decided to go to the doctors and let them take a look at it and he sent me down to get it X-Rayed today. Thankfully the wait wasn't particularly long and it was over quickly. But way to go for their "care and support" .¬¬ ! Which was like none, in case you didn't get my sarcasm. It was more like a "wham, bam, thank you ma'am" visit - the woman yanked my arm around (which hurt :( ) and when she'd taken a look was like "okay, go visit your doctor in a week" and then stalked off. So I take it it isn't broken then? I'm guessing not - although a cast may have been kool, especially to draw on, I'm kind of glad I dont' have the faff of all that. But I hurt! Could you not have told me what WAS wrong with it? A soft tissue injury or bruise to the bone perhaps? I guess not...

Anyway, the other reason for the name was I meant to do this post last Thursday, in memory of 9/11, but I went out and forgot *_* (whoops!). I found this video from Ryan Adams whilst I was doing my job as a seeder monkey and thought it was pretty topical - and also a good song - so it's now part of this post. Sorry for this one just being a link, but they've taken down the embed code. What can ya do?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IhDW18rxyY

I took this shot down in NYC in '05. My family took me there for my 18th and it was absolutely amazing. It was very weird around Ground Zero though. Very eerie and silent, despite the fact that it's in New York City! I did a little redux on the photo after watching the "World Trade Centre" movie by Oliver Stone. Now there's a film that makes you think it could go either way, but I think they were pretty respectful of it. Here's a link to my devArt page where I posted this up: http://wildfire198.deviantart.com/art/In-Loving-Memory-40598016

So yeah, that's all for now. I'll try and get some good shots or find a new video to post up soon.

Check y'all later! For my first post - after the intro one, I don't think that one really counts as a first post - I thought I'd put up some vids I found on my interweb searches in the world of graffiti. The vid is called "Muto" and is done by Blu, a very kool street artist who I think is from Italy. It's kinda old (well, only a few months, but in internet terms, that's pretty darn ancient) but I really liked it when I first found it and thought I'd share it anyway. Talk about dedication! I can't tell if the graff is animated or he actually did it all:

Another good one is this: This one is of Fafi, a french (Parisian?) street artist who's done some stuff for Adidas and LeSportsac, among other fab works. She's very talented and deserves some love, so go check her out; a link to her site.

I've been watching the BBC adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice" for the first time, and it's pretty good :). I've seen the film lots of times, so I know the story and everything. But Colin Firth IS Mr Darcy. Squeee! He's so adorable. What with all his brooding and smouldering eyes *takes a deep breath*...okay, fangirl moment over.

Hello!

Well, I've had this blog for a couple weeks now and I've only just gotten around to writing this first post...finally! You can find some really profound things on a blog - people's thoughts, their likes and dislikes, things they wouldn't tell people they know 'irl', but because it's out in the nether-like cloud of cyberspace, they feel confident to do so. That's why it's taken me a little while to start this off. I didn't want to just spew something out onto the page, like word vomit; I wanted to be interesting and engaging, perhaps even funny.

Whether or not I was successful, I guess is up to you.

So, what do you want to know? My name is Jaye. I like colours, particularly in the form of marker pens and/or crayons, and designing things. These things can be characters, words, moving (or not) pictures and doodly sketches. I don't like peas or mayonnaise. I think scrawlers should be made to clean up their work and learn from the masters of street art, some of which I’ve got up in the ol’ blog roll on the right. I also work in the world of viral marketing, and may post up some ads or campaigns I’ve come across from time to time. Maybe I’ll even discuss movies and music and the like.

So if you’re interested, pull up a chair and hang out for a while. I can’t promise to post like all the time or anything, but I’ll try to get something up at least once a week.
